AAYCC SUMMIT

Allegheny County, PA:  The All About the Youth Community Center (AAYCC) is launching its Education and Mentor Initiative.   To kick off this statewide initiative, AAYCC will host its 1st Annual Youth Opportunity and Leadership Summit on Monday, August 8, 2022.  This all-day event that supports youth transitioning out of the foster care system will take place at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott in Coraopolis, PA.  The day, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch, will host a keynote address by Luke Kliewer, Director of Miriam’s Hope, panelists, and breakout sessions.  Additionally, partners like Dress for Success will be on hand to provide participants with access to resources free of charge.  Because so many foster youths and their families do not have access to quality education or resources, AAYCC programming and services work year-round to fill in the resource gaps for disadvantaged youth. The summit provides a major a way to connect them.

Founded in 2011, the mission of AAYCC is to help youth focus on their future and be successful.   AAYCC serves children from elementary school through their post-secondary life.  Children and youth between the ages of 7-18 are provided weekly guidance and support, while young adults between the ages of 23–35 are provided post-secondary and employment coaching.  AAYCC utilizes a hybrid model that balances academic enrichment with experiential learning and positive youth development.  For over 10 years, AAYCC has effectively served children, youth, and young adults.  This year, the organization is working with the Department of Human Services and Family Guidance to give up to 58 students an individualized plan to promote high school graduation and post-secondary education opportunities. But our ultimate goal is to serve a 100 youth and young adults per year through our fundraising efforts.

Registration for the event will go live soon.  Individuals interested in attending can go to the AAYCC website (www.aaycc.org) to access the registration.  Additionally, AAYCC is still seeking support for this event. If you would like to contribute, please contact Mrs. Cox.  Current sponsors and supporters include The Small and Mighty Grant of the Pittsburgh Foundation, Dress for Success Pittsburgh, Applebee’s (Monaca, PA), and UPMC.
